Darla is a highly skilled recruitment and retention professional with over 16 years of experience in successfully developing and implementing strategies to achieve enrollment/revenue goals.

As a first generation college student, Darla grew up in Cambridge and went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Emmanuel College and later earned a Master of Science in Communications Management from Simmons College. Darla is a graduate of the Partnership Inc.'s leadership development program. She has spent her 16-year career immersed in the industry of higher education and recently joined City Year as Director of National Diversity Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships.

Prior to joining City Year, Darla served as the Interim Director and Associate Director of Admissions for Simmons School of Management (SOM) in Boston. For nearly seven years, she successfully developed and implemented recruitment strategies to effectively increase the number of qualified and diverse students enrolled in the SOM's portfolio of graduate degree programs.

Throughout her career, Darla has served in a variety of admissions and recruitment roles for both the for-profit and not-for-profit sector including organizations such as: College Week Live, Tufts University, Hawaii Pacific University, Akamai Technologies, PRTM Consulting and Building Excellent Schools.

Darla is a founding member of the National Black MBA Collegiate Chapter (NBMBAA) at Simmons College. When she is not busy working and mentoring, Darla a licensed esthetician, enjoys spending time at the Brow and Lash Boutique, an entrepreneurial venture she launched as a direct result of the industry research for her Master’s thesis.
